Week 9: October 31-November 4


Kindergarten:

1st Grade and 2nd Grade: 
This week we will continue to practice our typing skills using Dance Mat typing.  Try to remember what we learned last week about the home row keys and what fingers are responsible for pushing the keys:  a s d f g h j k  l ;
The second part of the class we will get to explore the educational link, Fun Brain Math Arcade as well as a play a math game.

Halloween Game: 










3rd and 4th Grade: This week we will finally finish learning the Typing Rhyme.  You now know where all 26 letter are located and what fingers are responsible for each key!  Make sure when you practice  typing, you are setting yourself up for success now and in the future by using the correct finger for each key.

You will also use the link, wordle.net to create a colored word collage using words that describe you. You will then be able to print and take it home.


6th Grade:  This week we are very busy!! We have a lot to get through.  

We will start the class of with quickly reviewing the typing rhyme we finished last week.  We will then go to our online typing accounts and practice our typing skills.  Type the following address in the address bar of your web browser: keyboardingonline.com.   Let's bookmark it as well!!

Next, you will explore the link, wordle.net and make a colored word collage of your choice. 

 The last thing that we will do is begin exploring the word processor, Microsoft Word and learn about the tools and many options it has to offer.

Week 8: October 24-28



Kindergarten:  

This week we will practice our mouse navigation skills through a few different Halloween activities.  Click on the images to get started!!! You will also get to paint this week using a new link.



 1st and 2nd Grade:  

Let's become familiar with the keyboard and begin to learn the location of where letters are located on the keyboard.   We will practice in class and then you will use the following link to practice on your own.


With the time remaining in class, choose from the following Halloween links below.  Have fun!

3rd and 4th Grade:

We will review the Typing Rhyme we have been learning in class and continue to learn more of the rhyme which teaches correct finger to key usage.  You will also be introduced to your keyboarding online accounts that you can use at school and at home!! 

If time remains, choose one of the Halloween activities from above (click on the activity next to the pumpkin)!


6th Grade:
This week we will review and learn the rest of the Typing Rhyme which reinforces correct finger to key usage.  You will also use your keyboarding online account to continue working on your keyboarding skills individually.  Remember, this account can be accessed anywhere, so feel free to practice at home as well!!  Just remember the school login and your individual password.

Week 6: October 10-14

This week is fire safety week, therefore every grade level will be directed to one link related to fire safety.

Week 5: October 3 - October 7

Kindergarten:

We are still working towards moving and navigating the mouse.  Therefore, the following links allow us to practice this important skill.

1st and 2nd Grade:

The copy and paste activity from last week is continued.  The class will begin with a short teacher led demonstration and then you will be guided to download the word document from the link below to practice on your own:

6th Grade:


It is time for typing practice!!! This week you will begin our new typing program.  Using this program you can even log on at home and practice your skills!!   Say good-bye to pecking away at the keyboard! I will be looking at everything from your hands on home row, to your posture, to your feet, to your back.  We are getting serious!!! With hard work and dedication, you will soon be typing 40 wpm!!!
